Breast Cancer Information

So you’re diagnosed with breast cancer …

A new diagnosis of breast cancer is often associated with difficult emotions and reactions including fearful shock, numbing disbelief coupled with anger, grief and extreme sadness. Women often report being under pressure to make sense of a whole new medical maze. And in the midst of this emotional strain, they are faced with the job of gathering information, learning new medical terms and make difficult treatment decisions. We have prepared this booklet to provide you with basic information about breast cancer and the treatment options available.

The staff at
Carolina Breast &
Oncologic Surgery
can help you during these difficult times...

The treatment of breast cancer is complex and constantly evolving. Often, a combination of treatment strategies is often the best method to achieve a cure from breast cancer. Three principal specialties are involved in the treatment of this disease, including surgery, medical oncology and radiation. Not everyone is treated with all of these modalities, which may be given in different order, different amounts or over differing timetables - all depending on the stage and biological behavior of the breast cancer and the individual preferences of the women diagnosed with disease.

We work together with a team of specialists to coordinate the most appropriate care for each individual, providing a multi-disciplinary and up-to-date approach to all our patients.
